Free online PDF text editor
Edit the text in a PDF without disturbing the page.
Click a line, retype it, download. The edit is set in the page's own font, at its own size and spacing, and the rest of the page stands exactly as it was. Your file never leaves your device.

What it does
An editor for the page itself, not a layer on top of it.
Most "edit PDF" tools put new text over the old. Edit My PDF reads the page's own glyphs, fonts and spacing and lets you change them in place.
Edit in place
Retype a line. The page stands.
Any heading, line or paragraph opens for editing where it sits, in the font the page embeds, at its size, colour, letter spacing and word spacing.
- A paragraph keeps the page's line breaks, baselines and indents until you edit it.
- From the first edit on, the text flows again inside the paragraph's own width.
- The original words are hidden under the edit and taken out of the page on download.
Letter to shareholders
Revenue. Full-year revenue grew nine per cent to $4.2 billion, with growth in every region. Subscription revenue now makes up two thirds of the total, up from half two years ago.
Operating margin. Margin widened by 180 basis points as the cost of delivery fell and headcount grew more slowly than revenue.
Mixed faces
Bold, italic and regular, one block.
A paragraph with a bold lead-in or an italic title is one editable block made of styled spans. Typing continues in whatever face the caret is in.
- Spans carry their family, weight, style, size, colour and PDF font name.
- Undo moves through spans, not through whatever the browser would do to the DOM.
- Each face is embedded separately on export.
Revenue. Full-year revenue grew nine per cent to $4.2 billion, with growth in every region, and renewal rates held above ninety per cent.
Export
Downloads are real text, not pictures.
On export the original strings under your edit are removed from the page's content stream and your words are written as text in a subset of the page's own font.
- Each removed string is replaced by an equal advance, so nothing else on the page moves.
- Only the glyphs your edit uses are embedded.
- The result is searchable, selectable and sharp at any zoom.

Annotate
And everything you'd expect on top.
Draw, mark, sign and comment. Every mark is written into the PDF as vector or image content, positioned exactly where you put it.
- Pencil with seven brush styles, lines and arrows, more than seventy shapes with fill and stroke.
- Text boxes in Helvetica, Times or Courier with size, colour, bold, italic and alignment.
- Emoji, and a signature drawn by hand or typed in a script face.
Service agreement
The supplier will deliver the services described in Schedule A from 1 January 2027 and will invoice monthly in arrears. Either party may end the agreement with ninety days' notice.

When the source file is gone, or was never yours, the PDF is the document. Edit My PDF lets you change it without rebuilding it.
Fix a typo in a PDF
Click the word, retype it, download. The line keeps its font and spacing and nothing else on the page moves.

Edit the line where it sits. The original words are removed from the file, not covered up.

Figures in a table cell are reachable as text, so a number changes without redrawing the table.
Open the editorCorrect a figure in a report

Edit My PDF is a free online PDF editor that runs entirely in your browser. You can edit the text already in a PDF, change words, numbers and dates in place, and download a new PDF, with no upload, no account and no watermark. Because nothing is sent to a server, there is no file size limit beyond your browser's memory and no daily task counter.
The PDF's own font, not a look-alike
Most PDF editors replace the text you retype with a standard typeface or the closest match from a font library. Edit My PDF edits in the font the PDF embeds, keeps its letter and word spacing, and writes the result back as real text in a subset of that font, so the edited PDF stays searchable and prints exactly as it looks on screen.
Fidelity
Nothing moves when you click. That took work.
The fonts a PDF embeds have no space glyph, so a browser draws every space from a fallback font and the line comes out narrower than it prints. Edit My PDF measures each run in the page's face and fits its spacing to the width the page drew.
- 0.02 pt
- Largest drift measured on a re-opened export
- 11
- PDFs from different producers in the fidelity test set
- 318–348
- Units an embedded space takes; the fallback's is 250
Privacy
Your document never leaves your device.
There is no server. The PDF is read, edited and rewritten inside your browser tab, and the only network requests are for the app's own files.
- No uploadThe code has no endpoint to send a file to.
- No accountNothing to sign up for and nothing logged.
- Nothing beside your documentThe editor loads no analytics and no third-party script; the site's pages count visits only if you agree.
- Stored on this deviceIndexedDB keeps your documents between visits. Clear site data to remove them.
Check it yourself: open your browser's developer tools, choose Network, then edit a PDF. Only the app's own files appear.

Exporting edits as real text, in the page's own font
How Edit My PDF removes the original strings from a page's content stream, embeds a subset of the font pdf.js decoded, and writes your edit as positioned text rather than a picture.
What the editor leaves alone
Covered text, tables, Type 3 fonts, form XObjects, phantom spaces and the lines you did not touch: the deliberate limits of editing a PDF in place.
Editing a paragraph that mixes bold, italic and regular as one block
A textarea holds one font. A paragraph with a bold lead-in needs a contentEditable editor that owns its DOM, maps every edit into styled spans and keeps the page's line layout.
Questions
The short version.
No. The file is read by pdf.js inside a web worker in your browser, edited there, and written back with pdf-lib in the same tab. The only network requests the app makes are for its own code, fonts and emoji images. There is no account. Google Analytics counts visits to the site's pages only if you agree in the notice, and it never runs on the editor pages, so no script runs beside your document and no server ever sees it. See the privacy page for exactly what is stored and where.
Yes. In the select tool, click a heading, a line or a whole paragraph and type. The text opens in the font the page embeds, at its size, colour, letter spacing and word spacing, and a paragraph wraps inside its own column. The original words are hidden under the edit while you work and taken out of the page when you download.
Yes. There is no account, no daily task counter, no watermark and no file size limit other than what your browser can hold in memory.
Real text, in the page's own font. On export, Edit My PDF removes the original strings under your edit from the page's content stream, embeds a subset of the font pdf.js decoded, and writes your words as text positioned exactly where the editor showed them. If a face cannot be embedded (a Type 3 font, or a font the page did not embed) or you typed a character the font has no glyph for, that one edit is painted as an image instead so the page still looks right.
